When Amalia was born it took about a year for us to stop saying, “Can you believe we have a kid?” but with Luca, it never felt new which is hard to explain but I hope makes sense in some way. I’ve said this 100 times before but it feels like he’s always been with us in some way. ![]() He is the yin to Amalia’s yang, the sunshine we all need when we’re down, and the missing puzzle piece in our lives. Luca has completed our family in such a beautiful and profound way. Writing this post feels like a huge challenge because I’m getting emotional with every sentence I type. He housed an entire piece and kept looking at the cake for more! It was a surprise to no one as this child eats anything and everything constantly. It turns out he is a fan of birthday cake too. It was one of the first times we’ve seen them really play together with the same toy for an extended period which was very cute. He and Amalia played with it all day long. He loves water play and he loves cars so we bought him this car wash water table. Second kids rarely get that I’m realizing. He was all smiles and truly enjoyed every moment of being the center of attention for the entire day. It’s hard to capture it in photos but I posted some videos in a ring highlight on Instagram if you’re interested in seeing more.Happy birthday sweet Lukey! Yesterday our boy turned one and he celebrated like a true birthday boy. It is gorgeous by itself but also fits seamlessly with my wedding ring as you can see below! I love this ring so much and keep staring at it just like I did when we first got engaged 11 years ago. It was even more perfect than I could have imagined! Below is a shot of it on her hand without my wedding band. When the ring was complete, she sent me pictures of it on its own and I was floored. It was hard for me to decide on that width so she sent me pictures of a few examples of different-sized bands for comparison. It can support the larger setting but makes the ring look daintier. We went back and forth on the width of the band a few times and ultimately decided to go with 1.7mm which is thin but not too thin. A few weeks later, she sent me the rough CAD design you see below that showed what the ring would look like from all angles. This is the image that felt the closest to what I wanted, so I sent that to Christina with my wish list, and she immediately said she could make it all happen. I had spent hours searching for the perfect inspiration photo. ![]() Room for my wedding band to sit flush against the engagement ring.Inclusion of 4 small diamonds that were from a ring my mom used to wear.Nothing too bulky (as in I wanted it to look almost flat from the side). ![]() A setting that would make my circle diamond look like an oval.To celebrate the last decade (a little early) we reset my engagement ring into the most perfect, most “me” ring ever! I wanted to use the original diamond he proposed with, and had a few small diamonds from a piece my mom used to wear, so I asked Christina to create the ring of my dreams… with a few criteria: Marrying him was one of the best decisions I’ve made, and he is the only person I can imagine sharing my life with. We have had lots of ups, many downs, and have somehow created a life and family that is more amazing than I ever could have dreamed of. Anel and I are celebrating 10 years (10 YEARS!) of marriage later this year.
